Changes to the Recycling and Waste Service

This week, Aylesbury Vale customers will receive a letter, sent directly to every household, from Aylesbury Vale District Council. The letter explains the upcoming new bin collection schedules and changes to the recycling and waste service, and contains a new bin collection calendar. We have provided customers with all the information to their new recycling and waste service, alongside some pre-empted FAQs, to help ensure this transformation goes as smoothly as possible. However, we do expect a few teething problems as the crews and our customers become accustomed to the changes. We would ask that you help spread the word that the letters are arriving by retweeting and sharing AVDC’s social media posts. And of course, please look out for your own letter too!

East West Rail – Planning for Winslow Section of New line

Winslow Town Council

East West Rail – August 2018 update

Network Rail has now applied for a Transport and Works Act Order to allow them to go ahead with the construction of the section of railway between Bicester and Bedford, and between Aylesbury and Milton Keynes, via a new station proposed for Winslow. The Plans are available to be inspected at Winslow Community Library. The local authority-led consortium (East West Rail Consortium) that has fought hard since 1995 to make the reinstatement of this railway a reality, is keen that as many people as possible show their support for the project by submitting their comments to the Department for Transport before the deadline on 7 September.  See https://www.eastwestrail.org.uk/transport-and-works-act-order-twao/  for more information.

Winslow Town Council is a strong supporter of the East West Rail project – and it will be saying this in its submission to the Department for Transport.  At the same time, however it will also raise comments about some of the details about how the project affects Winslow.  Issues to be discussed at a meeting of its Development Committee (which takes place at 7pm on Thursday 23 August),will include:

  • Commenting about details of the Furze Lane road bridge over the railway
  • Seeking the widening of Furze Lane between Buckingham Road and the Burial Ground to allow construction traffic safe access to the construction compound proposed for a site north of the railway alongside Furze Lane
  • seeking ways of avoiding Network Rail’s temporary and permanent acquisition of some of the land owned by the Town Council adjacent to the Burial Ground
  • seeking the addition of a direct footpath / cycleway connection between the north end of the existing footbridge (which is to be replaced at its present site) and the passenger entrance to the new station
  • protecting unrestricted public access to the green space north of The Spinney.

Anyone with comments about any other aspect of the plans that the Council should consider should send details to the Clerk at clerk@winslowtowncouncil.gov.uk so that they can be taken into account by Development Committee on 23 August.
