East West Rail – Reopening of Bicester to Bletchley Railway Line

Winslow Town Council welcomes the Secretary of State for Transport’s recent approval of the plans to reopen the railway line between Bicester and Bletchley, and between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Claydon Junction, as part of the East West Rail project.  The reopened lines will connect the current Oxford to Bicester line and the Marston Vale (Bletchley to Bedford) Line, as well as providing a link between Aylesbury and Milton Keynes, allowing a number of new train services to be introduced.

When the new line is complete (currently first services are expected to run from December 2023) it is expected to carry half-hourly services between Oxford and Milton Keynes, hourly between Oxford and Bedford and hourly between Aylesbury and Milton Keynes, with all trains serving the new Winslow Station.

Winslow Town Council also welcomes the Government’s agreement to the recent announcement of the preferred route for an extension of East West Rail from Bedford to Cambridge via Cambourne, with a station connecting with services on the East Coast Main Line, as well as onward connections from Cambridge to other parts of East Anglia.
