Parking issues and Public Hall car park charges - update 2 April
On 27 February, representatives of the Town Council met with Buckinghamshire Council's relevant Cabinet Member and relevant Corporate Director to discuss various issues related to parking within Winslow. Since then Buckinghamshire Council has confirmed that charges for parking in Greyhound Lane car park will be introduced from 1st June by Buckinghamshire Council. It also confirmed that the restoration of first-hour-free for parking in Market Square will also happen from 1st June.
The Town Council in the meantime has now selected a company to manage the Public Hall car park, and charges will apply in that car park from 1st June (or shortly thereafter). These will follow the proposals that had been revised in January on the basis of responses from the consultation at the end of 2024. As noted in January this year this means that :
- Charges will apply every day between 8am and 6pm
- One hour's parking in the Public Hall car park will continue to be FREE
- The charges proposed for up to two hours and three hours will be 50p and 70p respectively
- The maximum charge proposed on a Sunday will be reduced to 70p
The table in the attached document shows the revised proposals alongside the charges already set by Buckinghamshire Councill for Greyhound Lane.
A limited number of residents' season tickets, valid at any time, are proposed for the Public Hall car park and will cost £50 for three months or £180 for a year, for a specified vehicle owned by a resident of an eligible property (on High Street between Vicarage Road and Avenue Road, and having no off-street parking options). Buckinghamshire Council is still considering whether they can match this arrangement in Greyhound Lane car park for those residents of properties for whom Greyhound Lane car park is the more convenient.
